The rooms are very spacious and well furnished, but unfortunately a little too dark due to the small window; the large daylight bathroom doesn’t help much either. OK, I must admit I do have high expectations when it comes to this sort of thing. Apart from that I didn’t have a room with a view, even from the fifth or sixth floor I still looked through a narrow space onto a not so inviting building. This seems to be a general thing here caused by the buildings in the urban area being built close to each other. However, I could see that next door there must be one or the other room without the view of a “wall”.
The staff here are extremely friendly. Small safe and fridge, the pool is catty-corner from the hotel and a bit small. The air conditioning is quiet but although quite far from the bed still blows onto it. It can be turned down, which makes sleeping OK. Large comfortable bed, wifi works but only slowly. I paid 35€ for the Superior including breakfast (didn’t try it) through Agoda.
All in all this lively town-hotel is a recommendation; especially the location is great for nightlife. The Chiang Mai “dirty mile” is right next door, the night-market is within walking distance. There are always TukTuks close by, the prices for these are fair; one will appreciate this especially if one has already used one in Bangkok (don’t) or has experienced the Phuket taxi mafia.
One can register one’s female company at the reception but it’s not compulsory.
If you want a “real” holiday in Chiang Mai to simply recover then look for someplace else (somewhere quieter). For a few days stop it’s ideal, especially at the price.
