omni_tower_bangkok00The hotel location is very good, a couple of minutes walk to the NANA Entertainment Complex (gogo bars); the sky train is also easy to reach. This time I booked through Agoda, it’s possible to get rooms as cheap as 40 Euros. If you book using the hotel’s own website (see above) it may even be a little cheaper.

I booked a large room. I had to try three rooms until I was satisfied. Some of the rooms have suffered quite a bit of wear and tear, are in need of renovation. Water stains on the ceiling, fingerprints on the doors and walls where expected to be found. The aircon is very loud, If you stand in the kitchen (not really needed) some of the floor even vibrates. In the first room I looked at the noise was quite loud even in the living area, nobody needs that. The third room was tolerable. Partially fitted carpet.

However, I ended up with a couple of smaller rooms instead of one large one, which I don’t really like at all, but at least the furniture wasn’t outdated. The bathroom is functional. Large safe, WiFi works. No hotel restaurant/room service. The breakfast is a bit of a joke; one sits in the lobby at a garden table and is served an omelette or fried eggs with toast. The coffee is OK. There are a lot of Arabs staying at this hotel, but not the “cheap” ones, they’re OK, some are with their families.

The hotel personnel are extremely friendly, nice, helpful, always smiling and have a sympathetic ear. From a certain height the view has something to offer; that’s my opinion anyway, especially at night. The pool is quite nice, quite spacious and clean. There’s a small gym in the hotel, it can be used free of charge.

Guests (girls) are registered by the security at the lift entrances, apart from if one doesn’t want that. They won’t let anyone in on their own who isn’t staying at the hotel; works quite well.

All in all due to the good location, reasonable prices and friendly personnel, the hotel is a good tip – BUT let them show you your room first. I suppose they will renovate the place at some time or other, and then things will be different.
