Costs 15 $. The rooms are quite nice really, a little better than in the Paris. The only trouble is that there are only single beds, to tight for me. For those who have not problems with that, great. Oh yes, breakfast is served in a small restaurant opposite, I was given a very restricted menu and always had a plate of soup, good for the figure. Some of the rooms are a bit loud with a busy road right out front. Apart from these few things the hotel can be recommended. There were quite often wedding receptions being celebrated here, maybe they needed the restaurant opposite. The hotel seemed to be very small to me and I hardly ever saw any other guests. It is not all that central either, which is no problem if one has a driver. During the evening there are whores crawling the streets next to the hotel, only Khmer chicks, pimps are with them as well. One can pull up in a car and get a chick without even having to get out, never tried it out though, as I said, only Khmer chicks. This place is known under the name of Keochanda.
Update. I noticed when visiting the place at a later date that they also have large rooms with double beds, thy cost between 16 and 18 bucks. Was very satisfied, even with the service. They have a safe at the reception, two key system. There is also internet at the reception, very friendly service and a quick and cheap laundry service.
The rooms standard/deluxe are officially still available (without haggling) for 18/20 USD – still a TOP value for money rate in Phnom Penh. One small drawback is that it’s situated in the not all that central Toul Kork district. During the day a motorbike taxi costs 2000 Riel (50 US Cents), during the night 4000, to get to the better known places in town.
Wireless internet in the rooms too, safe unfortunately only down at the reception. Everything is very clean and tidy, nice service. Would stop here again anytime. By the way, the hotel now has a “sister” hotel about 200 metres further on down the road; prices are identical. The rooms look similar to those in the other Lucky Star. The new hotel is even suitable for disabled users. There’s a free of charge Tuk Tuk service between the two hotels.
Here a few recent photos. The last pics are of the new hotel and the very friendly woman at the reception; who accompanied me and showed me everything.
