Although quite nice I don’t really like this hotel, has probably got something to do with my personal preferences. The location is quite good, sort of central down Soi AR; the Nova Park is further down the road. It’s only about 100 – 150 metres to the 2nd Road. Soi AR ends here almost opposite the famous-infamous Soi 6. Baht buses travel down the 2nd Road almost every second; handy for getting places quick.
I booked five nights on the Agoda website and planed extending my stay if I liked it. When checking in I was told that they are booked out so I’ll have to find some other place.
The building leaves a neatly arranged, open and tidy impression; caused by the many glassed areas. My room is at the end of a very long and windy corridor on the fifth floor. I booked a one bedroom suite without breakfast for 53 Euros with a kitchenette containing a large fridge, microwave and cooker. Hardly separated from the kitchenette is a living room with a couch, table and TV. There’s a second TV in the bedroom which has a large comfortable bed, a walk-in wardrobe and a large safe with code. The bathroom is nice and has a waterfall type shower. The Wifi functions without any problems at all. There are two air conditioning units whereby the one I used during the night was loud. To be exact it’s the outside part of the air conditioning, both are hanging on the small balcony which is only really large enough for a quick smoke. I complained once, but even though they said they would get it fixed nothing happened; didn’t bother to complain again because I was leaving the place soon anyway.
What I liked on the website photos were the large glass fronts all over in the living and bed rooms. In the end they turned out to be a disadvantage because when the curtains are open everyone could see in. Due to the building being very angular and with a number of complexes, there isn’t really a room that doesn’t have another room more or less opposite. This means that one has to leave all of the curtains drawn all of the time. I’m talking about the other rooms, myself I normally have the curtains drawn during the day anyway to prevent people observing what I’m doing. During the night they’re drawn all the time.
The rooms are also strangely angular. Long corridor, bathroom with two door, one is able to walk around in circles in the apartment.
As I said, I don’t really like this sort of room. Open glass fronts are nice but counterproductive if you can’t make use of them.
